Before the pursuit, American Canyon Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 29 near Mini Drive. Officers contacted the driver, identified as Antwan Hendricks, and saw an open container of marijuana in the car, police said. When Hendricks was asked to step out of the vehicle, officers said he sped off.
The pursuit led south toward Vallejo, during which Hendricks allegedly tossed a loaded .40 caliber Glock handgun from the car. American Canyon PD said Hendricks also ran multiple red lights and turned off his vehicle’s headlights as the chase reached speeds of over 100 mph.
“The pursuit came to an end when Hendricks drove to his residence in North Vallejo and surrendered without further incident,” police said.
Hendricks was arrested and booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections for carrying a loaded concealed firearm, possession of a firearm not registered to him, felony evading, resisting and delaying a peace officer, destroying evidence and having an open container of marijuana in a vehicle.
