Southaven man charged with statutory rape after prior arrest

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Southaven, Mississippi man arrested last month for a child pornography charge was arrested again on Wednesday after being accused of statutory rape with a minor, according to police.

Jonathan Pummill, 59, was arrested Wednesday and charged with statutory rape, statutory rape of a child under 14, and rape.

In July, Pummill was arrested by Southaven Police for possession of child pornography after conducting an investigation.

He was released from the DeSoto County Jail not long after.

The Southaven Special Victims Unit said in a press release that they “encourage victims of sexual assault to use their voice and be heard.”

If you have information in this case, contact the Southaven Police Department at 662-393-8652 or email tips@southaven.org.
