RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney John K. “Bubba” Bramlett announced a man is wanted for failure to appear at his trial.

According to Bramlett, Kyle Wayne Dennis was convicted in his absence on August 4 for the sale of methamphetamine of more than 10 grams but less than 30 grams withing 1,500 feet of Pearl Upper Elementary School, which occurred on August 30, 2023.

The district attorney said Dennis was convicted of murder in Hinds County in 1996 and was sentenced to life. He served 10 years before he was released on parole.

On August 30, 2023, police conducted an undercover narcotics investigation into illegal narcotics activity in Pearl. Through this investigation, they said Dennis was observed selling 14 grams of methamphetamine. This drug sale occurred at the Southern Garden Estates in Pearl.

Bramlett said Dennis’ trial was set for August 4, 2025, at the Rankin County Circuit Courthouse in Brandon. Dennis did not appear, and the trial was conducted in his absence.

A Rankin County Jury convicted Dennis, and he was sentenced to 60 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC).

A bench warrant was also issued for the arrest of Dennis for his failure to appear at trial. He is described as a 58-year-old who weighs about 200 pounds and is around 5’9” tall.

Dennis was last seen on a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

“Kyle Wayne Dennis is a convicted murderer and now a convicted drug dealer who chose to sell methamphetamine near a school, just steps from where our children learn and play. His decision to flee rather than face justice shows exactly the kind of danger he poses to our community. Law enforcement will not stop until he is found, arrested, and brought to serve the 60-year sentence handed down by the people of Rankin County,” said Bramlett.

If you know Dennis’ whereabouts, contact Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477)
