Officers said the crash unfolded just after 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, in the 750 block of West Marquette Road, in Englewood.
According to Chicago police, the victim, whose age is unknown, was in the roadway in the area when they were struck by a grey SUV heading eastbound along Marquette.
Officers said that following the crash, the driver of the SUV fled the scene.
The victim suffered serious injuries in the crash.
Chicago police are now asking for help from the public in the search for the driver involved.
On Wednesday, authorities shared new details about the vehicle believed to have been involved as well as photos of the car captured by surveillance cameras.
Officers say they believed the vehicle involved was a gray 2008 Volvo XC90 4-door SUV, with an Illinois license plate with the tag number EZ88526.
Additionally, the vehicle is seen with stickers on both bottom corners of the vehicle’s rear window.
According to police, it is believed that the driver had traveled eastbound from the 800 block of West Marquette Road just before the crash.
