On July 20, patrol deputies received a walk-in complaint at the Tioga Substation regarding a stolen vehicle. The victim reported that the vehicle had been taken from the 6000 block of Gilly Williams Road in Tioga. The case was turned over to detectives for further investigation.
Detectives identified 33-year-old Jeremy Wayne Belgard of Pineville as a possible suspect. With assistance from patrol deputies, investigators conducted proactive patrols in an effort to locate both the suspect and the vehicle.
On August 4, detectives executed a search warrant at Belgard’s residence in the 6100 block of Clark Circle in Pineville. The stolen vehicle was found parked behind a mobile home on the property.
Belgard was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on one count of theft of a motor vehicle valued between $1,000 and $5,000. He was later released on a $1,000 bond.
The stolen vehicle was recovered and will be returned to the victim, authorities said.
The investigation remains active, and additional arrests may be made. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Matt Dauzat at the Tioga Substation Criminal Investigations Division at (318) 641-6005.
