One person arrested in connection to mass shooting in Grays Ferry that killed 3

PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) — Philadelphia Police have announced an arrest in the July mass shooting in Grays Ferry that killed 3 people and injured 11 others.

According to police, 22-year-old Terrell Frazier has been arrested and charged with three counts of murder and nine counts of attempted murder.

Pennsylvania Court Records show Frazier has an extensive criminal record, with at least 7 other cases against him, ranging from traffic violations, driving without a license, receiving stolen property, evading police, theft and conspiracy, and carrying a gun without a license.

In a major update, Philadelphia Police Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore said 13 separate guns were fired in this incident.

Vanore also said other arrests will be coming in the near future once all the investigations are complete.

According to police, gunfire sprayed the 1500 block of Etting Street in Grays Ferry at 1 a.m. on July 7. Officers who were patrolling the neighborhood at the time of the shooting heard a barrage of gunfire and rushed to the area to see a crowd of people running away and inside their homes.

At the time of the shooting, there was a “large gathering” of 100-200 people.

Police said 8 people were rushed to the hospital by ambulance, and others were transported by neighbors, family, and friends.

  • Victim #1: A 23-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to the chest.  He was pronounced dead at 1:30 a.m.
  • Victim #2: A 19-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to the head.  He was pronounced dead at 1:31 a.m.
  • Victim #3: A 24-year-old male sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the back.  He was pronounced at 2:16 a.m.
  • Victim #4: A 21-year-old male sustained gunshot wounds to the buttocks and ankle.
  • Victim #5: A 17-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to the left arm.
  • Victim #6: A 24-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to the left arm.
  • Victim #7: A 19-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to the left arm.
  • Victim #8: A 23-year-old female sustained gunshot wounds to the left elbow, left thigh, and right calf.
  • Victim #9: A 15-year-old female,  unknown where she was shot at this time.
  • Victim #10: A 17-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to the left arm.
  • Victim #11: An 18-year-old male, unknown where he was shot at this time.
  • Victim #12: A 19-year-old male sustained two gunshot wounds to the head. He was transported to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, then transported by ambulance to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, where he is currently listed in critical condition.
  • Victim #13: There was another victim who went to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, who was not shot, only injured from falling to the ground while running away.

The victims who were tragically killed were identified as 23-year-old Zahir Wylie, 19-year-old Jason Reese, and 24-year-old Azir Harris.

Police later released shocking video showing the shooting.

The video footage, which was caught on a nearby Ring camera, is being used in the investigation.

At the scene, 139 casings were found.
