ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KBRC) – As the 2025 school year approaches, KRBC Tools for School leads a community campaign dedicated to helping students across the Big Country start the year prepared and confident. One of this year’s primary beneficiaries is Communities In Schools of the Big Country, a nonprofit that supports students on 22 campuses throughout the region.

Communities In Schools of the Big Country currently serves 22 campuses across the region. Their priority goes beyond school supplies; they also provide clothing, support for academic attendance, behavior, and mental wellness.

“Just imagine if you don’t have all the essentials that you need to be able to succeed when it comes to writing things down, taking notes, the required notebooks, to have a backpack to carry things in, all these things these students need,” said Justin Whiteley, Director of Community and Resource Partnerships.

The KRBC Tools for School drive is scheduled for Friday, August 8, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Walmart on Southwest Drive in Abilene. Community members are encouraged to donate supplies that will benefit local communities and schools in the Big Country, with the supplies going to the Christian Service Center and Communities In Schools of the Big Country as beneficiaries.
