
PA Requirements analyzed the latest CDC youth risk behavior survey data to rank states and examine the frequency and extent of soda consumption among teens.
According to PA Requirements, a continuing education blog about high school students, 18.5% of teens report drinking soda two or more times a day, which is the second highest rate in the country.
Only 22.1% of Kentucky teens reported not drinking any soda, compared to 31% nationally.
Nationally, approximately 15% of teens reported drinking at least one soda per day, and 9% reported consuming two or more sodas per day.
In February, a Kentucky lawmaker filed a bill to put more restrictions on families who use the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
LATEST KENTUCKY LISTS AND RANKINGS:
House Bill 279, filed by Rep. Matt Lockett, R-Nicholasville, would ban SNAP purchases of junk food and other “accessory foods,” like soda.
