(WHTM) — If tomato is a fruit, then why not add it to a smoothie?

That’s the question Heinz and Smoothie King are undoubtedly going to answer with their latest creation: the first-ever tomato ketchup smoothie.

Pittsburgh-based Heinz announced the collaboration Wednesday. While it might make heads — and stomachs — turn, the company described the concoction as “delicious and refreshing.”

The smoothie blends Heinz Simply ketchup with sweet Acai sorbet, crisp apple juice, juicy strawberries and tart raspberries.

“The idea of a ketchup smoothie is provocative, and our top priority was landing a delicious tasting fruit smoothie with distinct yet well-balanced ketchup notes,” said Angie Madigan, vice president of Elevation Marketing at Kraft Heinz, in a release for the product. “The experts at Smoothie King helped make this dream a reality, and we’re absolutely thrilled with the final smoothie we created together.”

The ketchup smoothie will launch Aug. 6 just as the tomato harvest peaks. Heinz said that’s when “tomatoes are perfectly ripe and ready for enjoyment,” and when one reaches for a refreshing smoothie.

The question is, will you reach for one made with ketchup?

For those interested, the product will be available at select Smoothie King locations in Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Colorado, Florida, New Jersey and New York. Heinz has not announced any plans to expand the offering to its home state of Pennsylvania.
