Just after 12:30 p.m. on August 1, Oregon State Police responded to a reported crash between a vehicle and a bicyclist on Highway 395 near milepost 157.
A preliminary investigation revealed the bicyclist, 69-year-old Robert McGee of New Pine Creek, was traveling southbound on the highway when a white GMC 3500 HD pickup truck tried to pass McGee before striking him.
McGee was declared dead at the scene, according to Oregon State Police.
Authorities determined that the driver — 64-year-old Greg Stiles of Guernville, California – was impaired at the time of the crash.
Stiles was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants and lodged at Lake County Jail.
