It happened just after 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the area of 13th Street and Wheeler Avenue, according to a news release from Cpt. Justin Bradbury of the Covington Police Department.
Officers found a 17-year-old victim whose ankle was reportedly grazed by a bullet when they arrived at the scene. She was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood and is stable.
Three other people were in the neighborhood when the shooting happened and were nearly shot, Covington police noted.
Bradbury wrote on Wednesday that officers canvassed the area following the shooting and found the 17-year-old suspect around midnight in Newport.
The teen was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.
