Catawba County man drowns off North Myrtle Beach coast, coroner says

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A North Carolina man died after he was pulled from the ocean in North Myrtle Beach on Wednesday, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office.

Anthony Rowe, 69, of Conover, North Carolina, died at a local hospital of apparent asphyxiation due to drowning, the coroner’s office said.

He was visiting the area with his family.
