The Cache County Sheriff’s Office identified the two people who died as Jace Tanner Dunn, 29, and Rose Reed, 24.
The crash occurred around 6 a.m. on August 5. When police arrived at the location of the crash, they found a crashed vehicle, Dunn and Reed, and several open containers of alcohol. They were ejected from the vehicle in the crash, and both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office said in a press release on Tuesday that they identified several contributing factors in the crash, including excessive speed, lack of seatbelts, and likely alcohol use.
“Our sincerest condolences go out to the families of those involved in this tragic incident,” Lt. Mikelshan Bartschi said. “We want to remind everyone in our community to drive safely, wear your seatbelt, and never drink and drive. A moment of poor judgment can have devastating and irreversible consequences. Please help us keep our roads safe for everyone.”
Police initially said that they were waiting to identify victims until next of kin were notified.
