Tropical worries: Tropical Storm Dexter will continue to race northeast through the northern Atlantic and not pose a threat to the US mainland. The National Hurricane Center indicates that there are two other areas where tropical development will be possible during the next week. These will also not threaten the Gulf. The disturbance now over the Eastern Atlantic could threaten the Southeast Coast of the US. One long-range model shows another disturbance developing behind this system later in the month. This system, if it develops, could threaten the Gulf in a few weeks.
Heat worries: Our biggest concern here at home in the next ten days will be the heat and humidity. It still appears that temperatures will climb back into the upper 90s later this week, with the heat index likely near 105. We might take the edge off of this heat by the beginning of next week.
Severe weather worries: Severe weather will likely not be an issue for the ArkLaTex. It appears that much of the area could stay dry from now through most of next week. Much of the area could stay dry.
