
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers intercepted 59 pounds of marijuana on Aug. 3, after discovering it in the baggage of a traveler destined for Germany. Officers said they found numerous vacuum-sealed packages inside two suitcases being loaded onto the Frankfurt-bound flight.


The marijuana had a value of about $240,000 in the U.S. CBP noted that, depending on the potency, the shipment could have fetched two to three times more in Europe.
Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) arrested 42-year-old Aleshia Anne Pinheiro, charging her with transporting a controlled substance into the Commonwealth and possession with intent to distribute — both of which are felonies.
