TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (ABC4) — A West Jordan man has been arrested and charged after inappropriately touching several women, breaking windows at an apartment complex, and then trying to take an officer’s gun while hospitalized.

Ethan Samuel Doutt, 19, has been charged with one count of disarming a police officer, two counts of assault by a prisoner, four counts of sexual battery, one count of failure to stop at the command of a law officer, and one count of propelling a bodily substance.

According to court documents, on July 30, 2025, a Taylorsville Police officer was approached by a woman who reported that a stranger had “groped” her inappropriately. While searching for the suspect, two more women approached and said they had also been touched inappropriately by a stranger.

While investigating, the officer was contacted by his police department, and they stated that a suspect matching the stranger’s description — later identified as Doutt — had been arrested for vandalism at an apartment complex in the area.

At the apartment complex, police were contacted after Doutt allegedly broke several apartment windows with a fire extinguisher, then went to the parking lot and smashed car windows. When police arrived, they located the damage to the windows, and a broken rear windshield on a truck in the parking lot.

When Doutt saw the officers arrive, he allegedly began running away, though a construction site. Police officers managed to take him into custody while he was attempting to climb a chain-link fence on the lot.

Doutt began hitting his head against the window while in the police vehicle, and was transported to the hospital, according to court documents. While at the hospital, he attempted to leave the hospital bed. An officer grabbed his arm to stop him, and Doutt allegedly scratched the officer and spat on him.

After injuring the officer, Doutt was able to break free from his grip and tried to grab another officer’s pistol and remove it from the holster. That officer removed Doutt’s hand from the pistol and secured him to the hospital bed.

Doutt is currently being held at the Salt Lake County Jail on a no-bail warrant.
