Suspect accused of beating, trying to rob man outside bathroom at Cisco gas station, clerk also charged

CISCO, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A suspect accused of beating and trying to rob a man outside a bathroom at a gas station in Cisco has been arrested, and a clerk was charged as well for allegedly being involved in the crime.

Joey Dewayne Porter and Henry Stephen Letney have both been charged with Aggravated Robbery in connection to the incident, which happened at a Stripes gas station on I-20 in Cisco in July of last year.

Court documents state a suspect later identified as Porter approached a victim as he was exiting the bathroom and demanded money. When the victim refused, Porter then allegedly beat him with a metal object until the victim was able to escape. Porter then fled as well.

The documents state detectives later determined Letney, who was working as a clerk at the store, conspired with Porter to commit this crime.

Porter and Letney remain held in the Eastland County Jail on bonds totaling ,000.
