South Carolina man charged with drug trafficking in Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested a suspected South Carolina drug dealer on Tuesday night.

According to law enforcement, officers with the Specialized Community Oriented Policing Enforcement (SCOPE) team were able to stop a suspect vehicle near 15th Avenue and S. 5th Street around 9:45 p.m.

Police said a K-9 was brought in to sniff out more than 8 grams of crack cocaine.

The suspect, Troy Boddie, 60, of Clemson, South Carolina, was arrested on charges of Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance and various traffic offenses.

He was booked into the Winnebago County Jail pending the outcome of a pretrial detention hearing.
