New health clinic under construction in Emporia, set to open in 2028

EMPORIA (KSNT) – A northeast Kansas healthcare center is celebrating the start of construction work on a new clinic in Emporia.

Taylor Bugg with Stormont Vail Health said in a press release that work on its new Emporia clinic will start in the spring of 2026 at 18th and Road G. The new healthcare center is estimated to open sometime in 2028.

“It’s not just about a sign, it’s about honoring the journey that brought us here and the future we’re building in Emporia,” said Mary Martell, vice president of Strategy and Regional Development. “We’re proud to show our team and community what’s to come and are excited to bring expanded access to high-quality care and services to the area.”

Stormont Vail Health’s Emporia Clinic will feature new technology and state-of-the-art virtual/telemedicine equipment along with upgraded consultation rooms and comfortable waiting areas. Staff with Stormont held a small celebration on Monday, Aug. 4 ahead of the official groundbreaking for the new clinic.

“After three decades of serving Emporia, we are creating a permanent presence. We’re not just building a clinic – we’re building a healthier community one patient visit at a time,” said Dr. Scott Smiley. “This new campus is not only an investment in our patients, but an investment in our team and the future of Emporia as a whole.”
