Janesville man arrested for third DUI after injuring passenger in crash

ROCK COUNTY, Ill. (WTVO) — A Janesville man is in jail after police said he crashed into a ditch while drunk and injured his passenger.

According to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, Matthew Welsh, 48, was piloting his Chevrolet Blazer south on N CTH H and lost control cresting a hill, crashing into a ditch.

Both Welsh and his passenger were injured in the crash.

Police said Welsh was arrested for his third offense of operating while intoxicated and operating while intoxicated causing injury, bail jumping, and other traffic violations.

Authorities said Welsh had two prior convictions for operating while intoxicated, making the arrest a felony.
