Since September 2024, the Fresno Chaffee Zoo has offered discounted general admission to adults 18 years of age or older who present a valid ID along with a WIC or EBT card. Eligible visitors have also been able to purchase up to four general admission tickets for $5 each, every Wednesday.
The reminder comes after a user on TikTok posted a video last month recounting her frustration after visiting the zoo and finding out that the policy was only valid on Wednesdays. Some users commenting on the video seemed to also be unaware of the policy, stating they “should’ve updated their website or something about it.”
The Fresno Chaffee Zoo’s website does reflect the policy, and zoo officials say the zoo has so far welcomed over 16,500 visitors through this discounted admission.
Zoo officials also say the zoo is actively seeking sponsors to help underwrite the Wednesday Welcome Days program. Sponsorship opportunities are reportedly starting at $10,000.
Officials say the support from sponsors will be instrumental in sustaining this initiative and furthering the Zoo’s commitment to community engagement and accessibility. Potential sponsors can contact the Zoo’s Development team at 559-498-5959 or giving@fcz.org.
