Eastbank’s run ends in the Little League World Series Southwest Regional Championship game

WACO, Texas — Eastbank’s first and only loss of the Little League World Series Southwest Regional came in Tuesday’s championship game against Texas East.

With the game tied at two in the top of the fifth, bases-loaded miscues would give Texas East multiple scoring opportunities.

Joseph Miller scored the go-ahead run on a ground ball to the third baseman. Eastbank elected to throw Miller out at first, which allowed the runner on third to give Texas East a 3-2 advantage.

Texas East loaded the bases again later in the inning and extended the lead to two runs after Lucas Sontag was hit by a pitch.

In the top of the sixth, Texas East would secure an insurance run on an RBI single from Michael Frankie.

Texas East defeated Eastbank, 5-2, ending their hopes of another Little League World Series berth.

The kids from Kenner opened regional play with a miraculous 8-7 comeback win over Texas West on Thursday. They followed that up with a dominant 8-1 win over Oklahoma Friday afternoon.

Eastbank secured its spot in the regional final with a 7-5 win over Texas East on Sunday, but the team from Lamar, Texas, would get its revenge in the winner-take-all championship.
