Deputies arrest Topeka man after 100 mph chase in Jackson County
JACKSON COUNTY (KSNT) – Deputies arrested a Topeka man this week in Jackson County after he allegedly engaged in a high-speed chase with law enforcement.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that a deputy tried to pull over a 2018 Chevy Silverado around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5 that was heading north on U.S. Highway 75 near 134th Road. The driver of the vehicle was allegedly committing several traffic infractions.

The sheriff’s office reports the driver refused to stop and a pursuit began. The driver allegedly reached speeds above 100 mph, with one deputy eventually using a tactical vehicle intervention to stop the suspect’s vehicle. Law enforcement said the driver was allegedly running people off the road during the pursuit.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said the pursuit ended around 278th Road on U.S. Highway 75. Deputies arrested the driver, a 35-year-old Topeka man, for numerous charges including:

  • Two counts of aggravated battery on law enforcement.
  • Two counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement.
  • Two counts of battery on law enforcement.
  • Battery on a corrections officer.
  • Aggravated assault.
  • Felony criminal damage to property.
  • Flee and elude law enforcement by reckless driving.
  • Driving under the influence.
  • Felony interference with law enforcement.
