(KRON) — A cat stranded on live power lines was rescued by a PG&E worker near downtown Vallejo Tuesday.

Animal control officers with the Solano County Sheriff’s Office took custody of the cat and learned that she was reported stolen out of Benicia Benicia two weeks ago.

“Once the cat was safe on the ground, the officers discovered that she had a microchip,” Solano County Animal Control Services said. “Officers reached out to the owner, who was completely overwhelmed with joy, as the cat, ‘Emery,’ had been stolen from Benicia two weeks earlier.”

Emery was rescued without injury and reunited with her family in Benicia.

“Another great story to encourage our citizens to get your pets microchipped, so if they are ever stolen or lost, animal control can get them home to you as well,” Solano County animal control said.
