Officers responded to a hold-up around 8 p.m. Tuesday at the 7-Eleven gas station located at 814 Higgins Road.
Upon arrival, responding officers met with the store employee who said two men had entered the gas station, walked around the counter and sprayed the clerk with a chemical, believed to be mace.
According to police, the two offenders then took several cartons of cigarettes and bottles of liquor and fled from the store, last seen on foot heading south on Cumberland.
The store clerk was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Police described the offenders as two men, dressed as females, one wearing a black shirt and grey pants and the other wearing a tan shirt and black pants. Both were wearing bandanas on their heads, police say.
Detectives are reviewing video surveillance footage from inside the store.
