BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Urban forestry professionals, municipal staff, arborists, and community volunteers from across Indiana will gather December 9–10, 2025, at Switchyard Pavilion for the annual Indiana Community & Urban Forestry Symposium, hosted by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Indiana Community Forestry Council (IN-CFC).
The two-day event will offer a comprehensive look at the state of Indiana’s urban forests, with sessions addressing topics from tree preservation ordinances and nursery logistics to emerging pests and best management practices.
“This symposium brings together a diverse group of people who care about Indiana’s urban forests—from city planners to utility reps to passionate volunteers,” said Sarah Mincey of the Indiana Community Forestry Council during the opening session. “We’re excited to foster collaboration and inspire action.”

Attendees will also participate in a year-end IN-CFC meeting and have opportunities for networking, including an optional social event on Tuesday evening.
The event costs $15, which includes catering for both days. While all are welcome, the symposium is especially geared toward tree board members, municipal staff, nonprofits, arborists, university personnel, and students.
