Teen arrested in connection with shooting near rec center in West Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) — Police announced an arrest in connection with a shooting near a West Philadelphia recreation center last week.

On Friday, August 1, police issued an arrest warrant for Keon Kiah, 17. He is accused of firing multiple shots near the Christy Recreation Center pool that injured five people, including children.

Police believe the shooting stemmed from an earlier altercation that happened across from the recreation center. Kiah, along with several other individuals, is alleged to have returned to that area following the dispute.

Kiah turned himself in on Friday evening. He will be charged with 13 counts each of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and related offenses.
