The city said it has received several reports over the past two months of dogs becoming ill after visiting Nuevo Dog Park, located on Ryder Street just south of the Central Expressway and north of Costco.
“Most recently, during the week of July 28, we were notified of a dog that sadly passed away after a visit to the park,” officials said in an advisory of the park’s temporary closure.
In response, the city said it is launching an environmental assessment of the dog park.
“We do not use pesticides in any of our dog parks, and all are regularly cleaned with pet- and eco-friendly products,” officials said.
Nuevo Dog Park will remain closed until further notice while testing is completed, according to the city.
