Although they aren’t quite “coastal,” these locations offer breathtaking views of the water, according to the New Jersey Real Estate Network, which published the results. West Virginia’s highest-ranking place was Harpers Ferry.
Located at the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers, Harpers Ferry has one of the best views in the state, along with some of the richest history. Check out the stone buildings in Harpers Ferry National Historic Park with the river borders of Virginia and Maryland as the backdrop. In the ranking of Lesser-Known U.S. Coastal Towns with Scenic Views, Harpers Ferry was 55th overall and first in West Virginia.
Morgantown, West Virginia, also made the list, clocking in at 74th in the country. Morgantown and the neighboring towns of Westover and Star City all run along the Monongahela River. Consider taking a walk or bike ride on the Mon River Trail, renting a boat or hydro-bike to cruise on the river, or enjoying a concert at Hazel Ruby McQuain Park to best soak up the river views.
Finishing out the list of West Virginia towns was Lewisburg. Although it is not along the river, the nearby Greenbrier River offers opportunities for kayaking and fishing, making Lewisburg a great home base for a day on the water, according to the ranking.
