Mill Canyon Fire that started in American Fork Canyon now 100% contained

LEHI, Utah (ABC4) — The Mill Canyon Fire that started in American Fork Canyon on Monday is now 100% contained, according to the U.S. Forest Service Unita-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.

SR-144 near Alpine Loop re-opened late Monday evening after the fire forced crews to shut the road down.

According to officials, firefighters responded quickly to the incident, caught it while it was still small, and kept its size minimal at .24 acres. All evacuations and closures have been lifted as of Tuesday morning.

Crews are asking those visiting the area to continue to yield to fire vehicles and personnel in the American Fork Canyon area. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Weather conditions

According to ABC4’s 4Warn Weather team, Red Red Flag Warnings are in effect for the Eastern Uinta Basin, Book Cliffs, Color Country Mountains, and the Central Mountains.

Officials warn that anything that can start a fire, will start a fire if people don’t use their fire sense.
