BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — A man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly kicking a police officer, spitting on several others, and making violent threats during an arrest Sunday, according to court documents.
Mohamed I. Koliso, 33, was arrested on August 3, 2025, near the Monroe County Public Library after Bloomington Police responded to a report of a theft from the nearby CVS store. A Bloomington Police officer wrote in a probable cause affidavit that officers located Koliso near the library’s southwest corner. After determining he was the suspect in the theft, officers attempted to arrest him.
While being escorted in handcuffs, Koliso allegedly dropped his weight to resist being moved, then kicked a police officer in the inner thigh. Officers restrained him on the ground, but during the incident, Koliso reportedly became combative again—spitting on two more officers and a police sergeant.
According to the affidavit, Koliso later spat on the first officer’s arm and face, and made repeated verbal threats to harm officers’ family members, including threats of sexual violence. Koliso also allegedly threatened to shoot another officer and his family.
Once transported to the Monroe County Jail, Koliso continued making threats, the first officer stated.
Koliso is charged with battery on a public safety official, four counts of battery by bodily waste, and two counts of intimidation—all Level 6 felonies. He also faces misdemeanor charges of theft, resisting law enforcement, and criminal mischief.
The court documents do not say what the suspect allegedly stole from CVS.
Koliso is facing the following charges, according to court records:
- Battery resulting in bodily injury to a public safety officer – Level 5 felony
- Battery by bodily waste against a public safety officer – Level 6 felony
- Two counts of intimidation involving threats to commit a forcible felony – Level 6 felonies
- Resisting law enforcement by forcibly resisting or obstructing officers – Class A misdemeanor
- Theft – Class A misdemeanor
Court records show Koliso was booked into the Monroe County Jail and remains in custody. The man’s residence is listed as “transient.”
