On Sunday, July 27, officers responded to an overdose at a residence on Rural Retreat Road in Bessemer City. When they arrived, they found an eight-month-old child unconscious and not breathing.
The child was treated at the scene and taken to a local hospital, where they are recovering, officials said.
After consulting with the Gaston County District Attorney’s Office, the parents, 33-year-old Bobby McKinney and 29-year-old Kayla Wilhelm, were charged.
