Community celebrates reopening of downtown Shreveport sprayground

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Children in Shreveport will have an opportunity to enjoy a newly improved downtown sprayground this summer before heading back to school for the year.

The City of Shreveport announced in a press release that it will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the renovated downtown splash pad, a project it is proud to present to the public.

“Thanks to your continued support and YOUR tax dollars at work, we`re proud to unveil the newly refreshed Downtown Sprayground! This vibrant water feature is a downtown favorite, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back.”

City officials and community members will gather on August 5 at 10 a.m. to celebrate the reopening of the water feature.

As the news spreads online community members celebrate, a Facebook announcement from the department generating over 200 shares.

Many of the posts are full of community members expressing nostalgia, and parents excited to share a memory with their children from their own childhood.

The event will take place across from the Sci-Port Discovery Center on Clyde Fant Parkway.
