Armed man shot, killed by Richmond police: PD
(KRON) — A man armed with a knife was shot to death by two Richmond Police Department officers near the intersection of First Street and Barrett Avenue in Richmond Monday night, the Richmond Police Department told KRON4 at the scene.

Richmond Police Department officers responded to the area around 5 p.m. for a 911 call about an armed man inside a home threatening to kill people, PRD said.

Officers approached the front door of the home and a confrontation ensued between the officers and the armed man, police said. During the confrontation, the officers shot and killed the man.

“Officers were immediately confronted by a subject who was armed with at least one knife, directly outside the residence,” RPD said in a statement Monday night. “At that time, two officers discharged their firearms, and an officer-involved shooting occurred.”

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are actively investigating the shooting.
