The sheriff’s office says the search and seizures were a part of a joint operation with several other law enforcement agencies that focused on investigating local trafficking organizations, capturing fugitives and arresting individuals that possessed and distributed child sex materials.
The MCSO seized the following over the 60-day period:
According to the sheriff’s office, the MCSO Heat Unit, MCSO Sex Offender Task Force, MCSO Special Operations Unit, and MCSO Uniform Patrol Bureau, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, Talbot County Sheriff’s Office, Russell County Sheriff’s Office, and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office all contributed to the operation.
Most of the cases have been sent to Superior Court and are awaiting prosecution. The sheriff’s office says all cases are still being investigated and more charges may be pending.
