Rest of the Week: Although we will still experience scattered showers in the afternoon, expect the rain to taper off slightly by the end of the week. The wedge of cool air over the area right now will weaken on Friday. This means warmer weather, with readings back in the upper 80s Friday afternoon.
Weekend: Temperatures are expected to bounce back into the 90s in time for the weekend. Plus, we will see a bit more sunshine in the afternoon. Isolated showers and storms remain possible through next week.
Tropics: Tropical Storm Dexter formed several hundred miles east of the Carolinas yesterday evening. As of 5 PM today, it is still producing gusts up to 60 mph. Over the next several days it will continue northeast, and it poses no risk to land.
We are monitoring two other areas that have potential for development. Area #1 off the coast of the Carolinas has a 30% chance of development later this week. Area #2 off the coast of Africa has a 50% of development as it tracks across the Atlantic. Our next named storm of the season is Erin.
