Eastbank advances to Little League World Series Southwest Regional Championship

WACO, Tx. (WGNO) – Eastbank has advanced to its first regional championship since 2019: the same year Louisiana won the Little League World Series Title.

Following a six-run rally in its opening game and an 8-1 victory in game two, Eastbank kept its momentum going in the semi-final round.

The third inning was the spark Louisiana needed to jump on top of Texas East-Richmond.

Eastbank had bases juiced when Spencer Curl hit a chopper to third. Richmond’s baseman went for the force out at home, but an errant pass sailed over Texas East’s catcher, allowing two Louisiana base runners to score.

A wild pitch two batters later and Charlie Bartlett’s RBI double capped off Eastbank’s four-spot in the third.

Texas East drove in two runs in the fourth inning to cut Louisiana’s lead in half, but Collin Johnson’s two-run single and Jonas Creppel’s RBI double, scoring Johnson, gave Eastbank a 7-2 lead with three outs to go.

Richmond began to rally in the home half though.

Jaxson Packard hit a bases-clearing double to right field, drawing Texas East within two runs, but pitcher Jase Ford forced Michael Frankie into a groundout to himself, throwing Frankie out at first.

Louisiana beat Texas East 7-5 and will face the winner of Texas East and Oklahoma on Tuesday, August 5th at 6 p.m. local time in the Southwest Regional Championship.

The two teams will battle for their spot in the title game Monday at 2 p.m.
