Six people rescued after boat catches fire on Bear Lake
RICH COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — The Rich County Sheriff’s Office said six people were rescued after their boat caught fire on Bear Lake late Saturday morning.
The sheriff’s office said they started receiving 911 calls around 10:30 a.m., with reports of a boat that was on fire approximately three-quarters of a mile north of the Bear Lake State Park Marina.

There were a total of six people on the 22-foot long Malibu — four adults and two children. All passengers on board jumped into the water after the fire began. The children were wearing life jackets and the adults were able to put theirs on while in the water.

Nearby boaters helped rescue all of the individuals who had been on the boat. The sheriff’s office said there were no injuries to any of the boaters. The cause of the fire has not been determined, but officials said it is possible there were gas fumes in the engine compartment.
