Chance of storms continues: Futurecast shows that thunderstorms will continue to develop more toward the southwest during the rest of Thursday afternoon.
The Storm Prediction Center indicates that a few of these storms could become severe and indicates that we have a level 1 marginal severe weather risk. If we have any issues, it will be from damaging winds and very heavy rain in spots. These storms will decrease on Thursday evening. Another round of scattered storms will be possible on Friday afternoon. These storms will decrease and come to an end on Friday night. Our final chance of seeing the scattered storms will be on Saturday.
Cooler temperatures are on the way! Thankfully, temperatures on Friday will not be as hot. Lows Friday morning will begin in the low to middle 70s. Daytime highs on Friday afternoon will warm into the low to middle 90s. It’s possible that much of the area could see 80s for daytime highs on Saturday!!!
Long-range outlook: The break from the intense heat will not last very long. Upper-level high pressure will build back to the east next week. After a small chance of rain on Monday, the rest of next week will likely be dry. Overnight lows will begin the period in the lower 70s. We will see daytime highs gradually warm into the upper 90s by the end of the week and stay there through next weekend and into the beginning of the following week.
