Shortly before 12:40 a.m. on Aug. 3, fire crews responded to reports of a fire in the 400 W block of 12th Street. Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke and flames coming from the roof of a townhome under construction.
“Firefighters acted swiftly and aggressively and had water on the structure within minutes,” a press release from Ogden Fire states. “The townhome was unoccupied; firefighters protected the adjoining buildings to ensure the fire did not spread. Due to the rapid response and coordinated efforts of the crews on scene, the fire was successfully extinguished.”
While the Ogden Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the cause and origin of this fire, the structures have been secured and damage estimates are at $1.6 million.
“We commend the professionalism and teamwork displayed by all responding personnel, whose actions helped protect the exposed structures,” Ogden Fire officials said.
The response to this incident included 23 firefighters from Ogden Fire and the Weber Fire District, four engines, two ladder trucks, one ambulance, one paramedic truck, and one battalion chief.
