According to the Louisiana State Police, troopers with Troop L began investigating the crash, which happened on Louisiana Highway 36 at Louisiana Highway 3241, around 7:30 a.m.
Investigators say a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro, driven by 39-year-old Jennifer L. Ayo, of Covington, was heading south on Highway 32451 toward Highway 36 when at the same time, a 2010 Honda Fit was heading west and a 2009 Ford F-150 was heading east, both on Highway 36.
The Chevrolet then reportedly went into the intersection, entering the westbound lane of Highway 36, in front of the Honda, where it was then hit once before continuing into the eastbound lane where it was hit a second time by the Ford.
Ayo was reportedly unrestrained and sustained fatal injuries, being pronounced dead on scene. The driver of the Honda sustained life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized, while the driver of the Ford was moderately injured and also taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Toxicology samples were taken from all three drivers as part of the ongoing investigation.
