Just after 10 a.m. Saturday, officers were called to a neighborhood near Cleo and Roberts Avenues for a report of a shooting.
They say they arrived to find a man in his early 50s suffering from a gunshot wound in the backyard of the home.
He was transported to an area hospital, where he died.
Investigators say the person they believe responsible, a man in his late 40s, was inside the house where the shooting occurred. He was detained when he stepped outside.
A firearm was found at the house, but officers are unsure if it was the one used in the shooting.
It is believed the men knew each other, but police are working to determine their relationship. They also say this was not a random act, and they aren’t looking for any other suspects at this time.
If anyone has information on this case, they are asked to call the Fresno Police Department’s non-emergency line at 559-621-7000.
