Kokomo man charged with child molesting

KOKOMO, Ind. — A Kokomo man is facing charges of child molesting.

Police called

According to court documents, on May 12, just after 7 p.m., Kokomo police were called to the 5800 block of Council Ring Boulevard for a threat in progress.

Police arrived and found a person at the door who claimed 40-year-old Trevor Brieger had friends over who were refusing to leave. The person also told police that Brieger had touched a child inappropriately.

Brieger is currently serving a lifetime parole for a previous sex offense conviction.

After learning Brieger may have touched a child inappropriately, police asked the Department of Child Services (DCS) for assistance with their investigation of Brieger.

Victim’s interview

When DCS interviewed the victim, they stated that Brieger had touched them inappropriately on two separate occasions.

Court docs indicate that the victim said that their guardian was asleep at the time of the incident. The victim indicated that they had not told anyone about it.

The victim also added that, when Brieger asked the victim to touch him, they refused.

Brieger’s interview

When Brieger was questioned by police, he denied that anything had happened between him and the child.

Brieger’s story was much different than the account the child’s guardian and the victim gave police. His version of what happened was that he woke up and noticed the victim in bed with him.

He told police he was unaware of the victim’s presence and expressed concerns to the child’s guardian, citing his current parole conditions.

Additional victim’s interview

An additional victim called the police and claimed that they, too, were a victim of Brieger’s.

The second victim indicated that Brieger exposed himself to the victim and requested that they practice oral sex acts on him.

Court docs indicated the victim refused and left the area.

Official charges

According to court records, Brieger was officially charged on Wednesday.

Brieger is facing the following charges:

• Child Molesting: a Level 4 felony.
• Two counts of Lifetime Parole Violation: a Level 6 felony.
• Child Solicitation-Solicitation: a Level 5 felony.

Police reported that, during their investigation, they pursued neglect charges against Lindsay Reed. Indiana’s public court reporting system indicates Reed has since been formally charged with Neglect of a Dependent — a Level 6 Felony.
