CHICAGO — The 53rd annual Fiesta del Sol concludes its four-day run Sunday in the Pilsen neighborhood on the city’s Lower West Side.

Fiesta del Sol is the largest Latino festival in the Midwest and among the largest in the country. It began on Thursday and concludes on Sunday, running from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The family-friendly festival includes live music and entertainment on multiple stages, local and regional food vendors, carnival rides and games, art exhibits and cultural programming, a dedicated children’s area, college and resource booths, and more.

This year’s festival has been held amid concerns about possible ICE raids following a recent increase in arrests. Organizers said this is the first time that this much fear has been centered around having the festival.

Mayor Brandon Johnson appeared at Fiesta del Sol this weekend to express his support for the Latino community.

“Are we going to work together to defend our rights as immigrants, descendants of slaves, and anybody and everybody else, and working people — are you going to stand with us together, Chicago?” the mayor said to festival-goers.
