The event is hosted by the Youth Bull Riders World Finals organization, a non-profit dedicated to supporting young athletes in the sport of bull riding and helping them reach their competitive goals.
KTAB/KRBC spoke with participants at the event, including 11-year-old Cannon Trull from Monroe, North Carolina. He competed in the Junior Steers division, representing Team North Carolina.
Although he didn’t win his division, Cannon placed 27th in the World Finals.
“I didn’t ride out my other bull from round one and round two, but I got on in round three, and I rode out,” Cannon said. “I am so happy that I rode out and made it to the world.”
Also competing this week is Andres Avita from Chihuahua, Mexico. Representing Team Mexico, Avita shared his thoughts about the event and the level of competition.
“I see that all of the riders are great and the bulls as well. Within all of the categories, from younger children to everything,” said Andres.
