Woman accused of breaking into multiple cars at DMV in Morganton

MORGANTON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A woman has been charged after allegedly breaking into and stealing from multiple cars at a North Carolina DMV, according to the Morganton Department of Public Safety.

Around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, officers responded to a reported breaking and entering call at the DMV Driver’s License Office in Morganton. A victim reported to highway patrol that a woman broke into multiple vehicles at the DMV.

The suspect, 33-year-old Kayly Allman, allegedly broke into three vehicles, one of which, a Hyundai Santa Fe, was occupied at the time. According to officials, Allman stole a cigarette, which she smoked, a Debbie cake, which she ate, two pieces of mail and a vehicle registration card.

Allman was arrested at the scene, which was about three hours after she was released from jail. She is being held without bond due to violations of pre-trial release conditions and was charged with two counts of felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle with theft, and one count of larceny after breaking and entering.

Authorities said more charges may be pending in this case. Allman is scheduled for an initial court date of September 4.
