“The investigation revealed that the shop did not have a state or city license required for selling tobacco products, nor did the business possess a license from the Department of Cannabis Control,” the Oakland Police Department said.
The Alcohol Beverage Action Team raided a building on the 1200 block of Fruitvale Avenue after receiving multiple tips from community members about crimes being committed at the shop.
“The City Attorney’s Office will follow up with legal action against the tenants, including civil charges and potential eviction,” OPD said.
OPD is encouraging citizens to continue reporting suspicious or illegal sales of tobacco products in Oakland to the ABAT Complaint Hotline at (510) 777-8677.
