
SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — One motorcyclist has died after a multi-vehicle accident on I-80 eastbound near milepost 142.
Around 5:30 p.m., multiple vehicles were involved in an accident near milepost 142 on I-80 eastbound. According to Trooper Davies Sanchez, with the Utah Highway Patrol, three vehicles, including two SUV’s and one motorcycle, were involved in the accident.
The motorcyclist driver was reportedly injured and taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, they died there due to their injuries. Law enforcement has not released the identity of the motorcyclist at this time.
Utah Highway Patrol closed two of the lanes for several hours. However, as of 9 p.m., they have been reopened. They have not confirmed if there were any contributing factors leading to the crash.
Utah saw a record number of motorcyclist fatalities in July, with an all-time high of 14 deaths. Additionally, Utah is in the 100 deadliest days of Summer, where car crashes and vehicle-related accidents see increases.
