STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — A man has been arrested and charged after attempting to flee from deputies while allegedly driving under the influence on Friday, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO).

According to deputies, a Honda Civic was seen driving without headlights and had visible damage to the front end of the car. Once the driver spotted the deputy, he reportedly attempted to flee by driving quickly onto Greenspring Drive, initiating a pursuit.

The driver almost hit another vehicle and swerved onto the sidewalk, into a tree, to avoid a collision. The deputy attempted to pull the driver over again, which he ignored.

Deputies say the driver continued fleeing before crashing on Stafford Market Place and was taken into custody.
