Former LSU Track and Field star Sha’Carri Richardson arrested in Seattle, accused of assault

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Former LSU Track and Field star Sha’Carri Richardson was arrested after being accused of assault on Sunday.

According to reports from Sports Illustrated, Richardson was detained at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. A Seattle police report states that Richardson was charged with fourth-degree domestic violence assault against her boyfriend, Christian Coleman.

Richardson allegedly shoved Coleman multiple times during an argument and reportedly threw a pair of headphones at him. Reports said Coleman declined to press charges.

She was detained for 19 hours after the incident, reports state. She has since been released.

Both were competing in the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., to advance to the world championships in September.

Coleman is a six-time world championship medalist, while Richardson has two Olympic medals and three world championships.
